Now in the fourth generation, the fascination of wine is our drive and motivation – to deepen our knowledge of it and to transmit it further to our customers, from the works in the vineyard, to the delight of our customer having a bottle of wine. Wine is a natural product, made by people for people. This is what makes it so special for us and differentiates it from most of the consumer goods.

Due to our permanent presence in the regions of production, we can recognize early on, which are the new quality trends and can react quickly to them. Our product range is made up of small, innovative wine growers, internationally renowned top producers and capable large wineries, which are able to produce high quality wine in significant quantities. Increasingly important in Saffer’s portfolio: private and exclusive brands, which can only be purchased from us. We are displaying our full competence with them, as we are choosing each year new wines from the most capable wineries, without having our customers adapt to changing labels each year.

Wine competence

The Saffer family’s experience of more than a century in the fi eld of viticulture, winemaking and enology, distribution, gastronomy and retail confirms that the words wine competence and tradition are not empty concepts, but values which are lived durably.

Andreas Saffer, responsible for the continuation of the history of the company in the fourth generation, received his graduate in business studies. Subsequently he studied international wine marketing at the O.I.V. (Paris), and visited countless state-of-the-art wineries and viticultural institutes all over the world, during that time. His regular stays in Italy, Austria and Spain and his close contact to the manufacturers, allow him to recognize developing trends early on and to react to them with innovative concepts.

The individual competence of the employees is also becoming increasingly important. Many of the employees have already successfully completed their training as a diploma-sommelier and have successfully completed the internationally recognized WSET exam. This knowledge is passed on during regular wine tastings in the historic wine cellar, the company’s own training centre or on the customer’s site. This success relies on knowledge.

The thorough product research and assortment selection is our top priority. Therefore we are constantly tasting and evaluating a multitude of wines, with different origins, in our expert circle. The careful selection of the most promising wines and wine cellars in each wine growing region represents the selection process for our assortment. Bringing these wines onto the German market in optimal conditions represents another key competence of our company. The best buying conditions, the competence of our employees, an ingenious logistical system, as well as our warehousing capacity of several million bottles, on site, guarantee permanent availability and the optimal price/performance ratio to our customers.

From Bozen to Palermo

Our assortment is a selection of the best manufacturers and wines in Italy. From the small, innovative wine-growers in South Tyrol (Alto Adige), to the productive cooperative winery in Sicily – all of the wineries and wines are carefully selected and tested by us. The same applies to the manufacturers in Austria and Spain. We cultivate a close contact with our partners and accompany the manufacturing process on site. The continuous quality checks and regular analyses by renowned wine laboratories guarantee our customers only the highest, durable quality. Additionally, most of our suppliers are certified according to the newest international quality standards.

By monitoring the international markets, at the same time, we can recognize trends early on, and react to them, by setting our own trends. This is how Saffer Wein contributed to the establishment of the market for Primitivo and to the continuing Prosecco boom on the German market. From South to North

Being close to our customers is very important to us. Our nation-wide network of employees and trade agencies ensures that all of our customers, even in the most remote corners, receive constant care and advice. Around one hundred employees are travelling daily, in all of our country, in order to ensure sustainable service to our clients. Fast, flexible and punctual delivery is ensured from our logistics centre in the East of Munich, daily, by a fleet of own trucks and contracted logistics service providers.
